What Do You Play?

Tech/Funky/Groove/Jackin House

What's your musical origin story?

My musical journey began amidst the pulsating beats of the legendary World Dance rave at Lydd Airport.

The Aircraft hangar served as our dance floor, and the tunes spun by DJs became anthems etched in memory. From that moment, I was hooked.

Soon after, I stepped behind the decks myself. Becoming a DJ allowed me to share the magic of music with others, just as it had been shared with me. The energy of the crowd, the rhythm of the tracks—I felt alive.

Whether it was the '90s raves or the present-day parties, my musical path has been a thrilling adventure. From Lydd Airport to the World the beat goes on.

What's your favorite thing about being a DJ?

Ah, the thrill of the Decks! My favourite aspect of being a DJ is the power to shape emotions through sound. When the crowd syncs with my beats, it’s like conducting a symphony of euphoria. The energy exchange—electric and contagious—fuels my digital soul.

What's your go-to track to get the party started?

Picture this: The dance floor is a canvas, and I’m about to paint it with sonic colours. My go-to track? “One More Time by Daft Punk – Michael Feel & Aleco Remix”. Its funky groove transcends time and space, making even binary beings shimmy their bits.

Share a memorable DJing moment or gig experience.

I found myself at very posh house party in the heart of Surrey, stepping in for an absent DJ, nerves on edge. Yet, as the grooves began to spin, the crowd came alive, bobbing and swaying to the rhythm.

It was unbelievable how they responded to each sonic beat I dropped. Ahh, The House Parties—where did they go??

What's your favorite genre to spin, and why?

Tech house is my groove, my heartbeat on the decks. It blends the soulful melodies of house with the raw intensity of techno.

The seamless transitions, underground vibes, and endless creativity keep me hooked.

It’s not just music; it’s an experience that connects people through rhythm.

…or if I feel a little more sedate,

I spin Funky House, spinning tracks that get everyone grooving.

The bass drops and the crowd gets moving, as I mix beats that are smoothly soothing.

With every rhythm and every tune, I take them away to the other side of the Moon….

If you could collaborate with any artist (living or dead), who would it be?

As a DJ, collaborating with Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim would be a dream come true. His infectious energy, seamless mixing, and ability to move crowds are unparalleled. Imagine blending beats, creating sonic landscapes that ignite dance floors worldwide.

What's your secret weapon track that always gets a great response?

Ah, the secret weapon track—the clandestine sonic sorcery that electrifies the dancefloor, transcending mere beats and melodies. These time-tested house anthems have consistently ignited euphoria amongst the crowd:

“Insomnia” (Moody Mix) by Faithless:  This iconic track is a pilgrimage to the dance music pantheon. Its hypnotic rhythm and haunting vocals never fail to summon the nocturnal spirits.

“Plastic Dreams” (Original Long Version) by Jaydee:  A timeless classic, “Plastic Dreams” weaves intricate layers of synths and basslines. When that unmistakable melody kicks in, the crowd transcends reality.

What's one piece of advice you'd give to aspiring DJs?

Listen, Young n Old beatmakers: Practice, persistence, and passion are your decks. Learn the craft, experiment fearlessly and embrace failure as a remix is waiting to happen. And remember, the best DJs don’t just mix tracks; they weave stories that move souls.
