Join us for DJ shows featuring the best in house music and soul music every Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm.
The multi-genre DJ shows often feature a blend of house music and soul music, creating an eclectic atmosphere that appeals to a wide range of listeners.
When we started dating back in 1982, young and carefree, we spent our weekends enjoying musical venues in the East End of London and attending concerts for our favorite artists. Over the years, our musical tastes have evolved, but our first love will always be soul music from the seventies and eighties. By the nineties, we also embraced great R&B and club music, along with house music and trance.
Fast forward to March 2021, while working, Paul heard one of his clients, MartBee, playing some banging techno music in his garage. They struck up a conversation, and Mart mentioned he was part of a local radio station, Blitz Kids Radio. After many visits to the studio and receiving support from the team, Paul decided to invest in some DJ shows and purchase his own decks. Seeing how much fun he was having, I (Yvonne) wanted to join him in this exciting new hobby! We received plenty of guidance from our friends at the studio and began taking online courses. Eventually, we got the chance to stream with our DJ friends, hosting our own weekly show every Wednesday, initially focusing on soul music and R&B before branching out into house music.
The excitement you get when playing a set together during DJ shows and bouncing off each other is amazing, but the best feeling in the world is when you play a track from house music or soul music and your listener tells you, ‘Oh, I love this track’ or ‘Oh, I haven’t heard this for ages.’
For both of us, it’s got to be Luther Vandross and Never Too Much, especially when it plays during DJ shows that celebrate the best in soul music and house music.
When first starting out, Paul was honored to be asked to do his first live show, sharing a Christmas Special Set at Blitz Kids Radio alongside the late Tall Paul B. Such a true gentleman, it was a memorable experience for him to share the stage, showcasing both house music and soul music. Paul wasn't sure if he would be good enough, but he put all his trust in Tall Paul B. We both will never forget that. RIP Tall Paul B.
We call our show Wonky Wednesday because we don’t stick to a particular favorite genre for our DJ shows; it changes from week to week. You'll find that we kick off with soul music in our first hour, then ramp it up in the second hour with funky house, tech house, progressive house, and, of course, house music!
As our musical tastes are so varied and being relatively new to the DJing scene, there is no one particular artist we favor. However, sharing the stage at DJ shows with some of the best in house music and soul music would be an amazing learning curve.
It’s got to be Insomnia by Faithless - just those first few bars give you goosepimples, especially when it’s played at DJ shows that celebrate house music and soul music.
No matter how skilled you are in DJ shows, there is always room to learn and grow. Always enjoy the moment, whether you're spinning house music or soul music, and above all, stay humble.
