Hilfiger BIO & PLAYLISTS

Listen to my show every

Tuesday 8pm - 10pm

What Do You Play?

House, Garage & Drum & Bass

What's your musical origin story?

I have always had massive appreciation and passion for most music but my all time favourites are - House, Tech House, Bass House, Techno, Funky House, Garage & DnB.

In the 90’s i got heavily into the rave scene, this pushed my love for dance music even further, I brought some 1210’s and started to learn to play, I got a few small gigs in a couple of local establishments with a few mates, this then just become a hobby.

I became a family man early 2000’s and left my raving days behind me & I sold my 1210’s, as money was tight.

Years later I could finally afford another set of 1210’s a Behringer DJX700 mixer, KAM KXR600 Amp & KAM Z Series speakers. But I basically became what everyone calls a bedroom DJ, and just kept to my own thing as a way to relax.

Christmas 2022 my misses and son brought me a controller which allowed me to enter the digital world, I started to learn the trade by picking up advice and tips from others as I go. I got an opportunity on an internet radio station in July 2022 which has helped me advanced into further opportunities moving into 2024.

What's your favorite thing about being a DJ?

The excitement of finding those perfect tracks to play, that gets everyone smiling and dancing, with everyone in the moment just for the love of the music.

What's your go-to track to get the party started?

Too many to name, as I have so many.

Share a memorable DJing moment or gig experience.

It’s to early days for me to answer this, as I am still a newbie, and have only just secured my first residency in a sports bar (Pub) started 9th March 2024!!! But I am hoping that as I progress, I will be able to come back with memorable moment - Something like I shared the stage with Carl Cox or Jeff Mills 😂😂

What's your favorite genre to spin, and why?

Hard one this!!!! Tech House - Because I love all the different genre edits you get within it, like the old hip hop edits from 80’s and 90’s.

UKG & DnB - I never played this genre when I was learning back in the 90’s early 2000, but I loved partying to the music, so playing it I spend a lot of time reminiscing about the good old days 😊

If you could collaborate with any artist (living or dead), who would it be?

Carl Cox, Jeff Mills - because they are masters of the trade within the industry, who most of us would have had the pleasure of attending that rave they were playing at or listening to them on the radio throughout our years, they just keep going and still continue to be world class names even as the scene changes.

What's your secret weapon track that always gets a great response?

Ohhhhh - There’s a few, but I am going to use 2 examples from my vinyl collection

Cafe Del Mar - Energy 52

Hi Gate - Caned and Unable

What's one piece of advice you'd give to aspiring DJs?

It’s okay to make a mistake!!! It doesn’t mean everyone else noticed. I’ve spent times over the last year being hard on myself for this - Just learn how to overcome it & laugh to yourself 😊
