Lounge, Afro and Latin
Wow, showing my age now. I started DJing at 12. Nothing special, my moms old BSR turntable and Realistic mixer. Now this is when rap had just started in Philly and we had record stores like Funk-o-Mart, The Sounds of Market street and DJs like Todd-1(RIP), DJ Cash Money, DJ Jazzy Jeff and TooTough when it hit, it was madness for me! I never looked back. Of course my equipment got better and so did I.
Now 45 years later here I am in all my glory.
The journey I can take people on. The emotion you can create with music. As a DJ, you create the room, you create the ambiance. Most venues, they came to see and hear you! Give them the show they didn't know they came for! EARGASM for EVERYBODY!!
Gypsy Woman (ampiano remix)
I used to hate house music. I was all hip hip. One night a friend asked me to go to a party. It was at Trenton State College and all house music! Let me tell you, I was hooked! I almost slept in the speaker. I could not get enough! So from then on, I have been incorporating house music with everything. Heck, I now incorporate everything with anything..lol. I love music!
Lounge music, as it is so versatile and you can lead anywhere with it. As you will hear in my shows I can go places you cannot imagine with it. Just hear me.
JDilla! He is a true creator. You have your Kanye and Tyler the Creator but he was the epitome of changing the game. I spin a lot of house and jazzy. I use some of his breaks in my sets.
If i told you it would not be secret anymore…wink wink
Stay true to you. Watch and learn. Respect the elders and respect the up and coming. We are brothers and sisters in sound, energy and vibrations. Curate your sets with emotion and feeling. This knowledge will keep you grounded.
P.S.
Practice, Practice, Practice
Rinse and Repeat.
